Catholic Charities of Washington DC is helping to solicit volunteers for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) to provide services for newly arrived Afghan refugees. Services include a children’s Recreational Day Program and Conversational English classes. Approximately 120 adults and 80 children, under the age of 10, will be served at one location in Bethesda. USCCB is looking for volunteers who can consistently provide at least one full day of service each week until approximately March 2022. The programs will operate seven days per week. There will be remuneration for parking and meals, and there is a potential opportunity for paid positions. Completion of the Protecting God’s Children course is preferred. All adult Afghan guests are fully vaccinated, and all volunteers must be fully vaccinated.
